Fairhaven Community
In Covenant with the United Church of Christ
"Adding Life to Years"

In 1916, Matthew and Jane Smith of Holland, Ohio, bequeathed their home and farm to the Toledo governing body of the Reformed Church to provide a caring home for older men and women. Then, in 1974, Trinity community was constructed in Beavercreek, Ohio, the site where our first cottage apartments for independent living are located.  The Community at Parkvue in Sandusky, Ohio opened its doors in 1985.  Most recently, United Church Homes has welcomed Four Winds Community in Jackson, Ohio and Patriot Ridge Community in Fairborn, Ohio to our family of communities.

In 1985, the Board of Trustees of United Church Homes acknowledged the need to expand its mission of service to the aging through housing for those seniors with modest incomes.  In the brief time since, United Church Homes has become recognized as a leader in providing senior housing through the HUD Section 202 Program.  In 1987, we began offering our services to develop and manage market rate housing and full service retirement communities.  Today, we are involved with retirement communities in eleven states.

Our Mission is to provide, primarily to older adults, housing, health care, and other services which are responsive to the needs of the whole person and based on Christian values.

Our Vision is that United Church Homes will provide an environment of respect for our residents in which their lives are enriched, their independence and decision making is honored, and their changing needs are met.

Our Vision is that United Church Homes will provide a work environment of mutual respect, caring, and empowerment in which all employees are encouraged to grow and expand their abilities to achieve their full potential.

Our Vision is that United Church Homes will be a good neighbor in the communities in which we are located, will be involved in the life of those communities, and will join others in responding to community needs.

Our Vision is that United Church Homes will operate so that our volunteers, our donors, and the families and friends of our residents are respected, valued, and informed.
